Obituary

MAYNARD-SFC Bert E. Land departed this life to be with God, December 11, 2007 at the University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born June 3, 1943 and was 64 years, six months and nine days. He was a Sergeant in the Army for twenty years and also served in Vietnam. He retired from Black River Votec as it became a college. He was an active member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church of Pocahontas and a member of the Pocahontas Lions Club. He loved to hunt, fish and travel with his wife, children and grandchildren. He has gone to be with those who have gone on before him. His parents, Bert A. and Ethel Land of Maynard, a brother, J. P. Land, two sisters, Marlyn Engel and Janice Johnson, and a niece, Sara Stock. He is survived by his wife of nineteen years, four months and 12 days, Letha Land of the home in Maynard, one son, Bert E. Land, Jr. of Pocahontas, three daughters, Tammy Martin of West Memphis, Kristi Smith and husband, Patrick, of Maynard and Debra Colvey of Siloam Springs, seven brothers, George Land and wife Becky, Sam Land and wife Teresa, Bill Land and wife Charlotte and Jack Land and wife Melody all of Pocahontas, Darrell Land and wife Kathy of Sulphur, LA, Robert Land of Texas and Melvin Land and wife Teresa of Three Rivers, MI, one sister, Mary Stock and husband Eric of Oklahoma, thirteen grandchildren, Justin, Joseph, Winter and Oceana Smith, Summer, Stormie and Chasety Land, Shanquwalla, Felicia, Ryan and Keonte and Michael and Casey Colvey, aunt, Gladys Land, uncle, Leonard Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews and lots of friends and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 pm at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Pine Grove Baptist Church with Bro. and Sis. Don and Jannie Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in the Maynard Cemetery. Music and song will be done by Artist Roush and Stacy Potter. Pallbearers will be John Land, Christopher Hubbler, David See, James Johnson, Billy Brown, Johnny Brown and Benji Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Land, Anthony Brown and Lee Brown. A meal will be served after the service at Pine Grove Baptist Church. He will be missed and there is only one way to see him again, to be born again in Christ.
