Scotty Joe Venson, 62, of Pocahontas passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his home.
He was born April 26, 1958 in St. Louis to the late Billy Joe Venson and Doretta Blackwell Seals. He was a truck driver, attended Sutton Freewill Baptist Church, and was very active with John 3:16 Ministries where he assisted in leading many souls to Christ.
Scotty Joe Venson was an artistic, creative, man of God. He attended
Sutton Freewill Baptist Church and was very active with John 3:16
Ministries where God used him to lead many souls to Jesus Christ. He
loved family, fishing, gardening, hunting, motorcycles, vintage trucks,
an avid coin and knife collector, drawing and writing. He graduated
from Pocahontas High School in 1976 with honors. He was a certified
Deckhand for the river barges-1976. In 1986 he obtained his Machine
Tool Operation Diploma from from Black River Vocational Technical
School. In 1988 he completed the National Hardwood Lumber Inspection
School in Memphis, TN. In the 1980\u0027s and 1990\u0027s Scotty was managing
supervisor at Brown Shoe Company, Wolverine and Frolic Footwear. He
completed Essential Management Skills for Supervisors at Arkansas State
University in 1992 and Working Successfully With People in 1992 at
Arkansas State University. He attended Williams Baptist College in 1991
taking an interest in courses of Desktop Computers. He was selected as
Brand Champion with Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts. Scotty coached for
IGA little league baseball and Pocahontas Little League Football teams.
He opened Scott\u0027s Auto Sales in Pocahontas; owner and operator. Later he
obtained his CDL truck driving certification and was currently employed
over 10 years with Diamond B Transport, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Scotty is survived by his children, Shane (Raven Dawn) Ham of Chattanooga, TN, Travis (Ashland) Venson of Gilbert, AZ, Daniel Venson of Wichita, KS, Tristan Zosso of Pocahontas, and Brentley Zosso of Pocahontas; five grandchildren, Kennedy Ham, Eli Ham, Kadyn Venson, Draven Venson, and Aubryana Venson; two sisters, Karen (David) Fortenberry of Little Rock and Robin (Mark) Brown of Pocahontas; nephews, Dylan (Carol) Ford and Jace Ford; special great niece and nephew, Colby Jaques and Harper Ford; aunts, Uveta Matthews and Shelby Jones; many other relatives and friends; and his brothers at John 3:16 Ministries.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 1:30-2:30 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service at 2:30 PM with Kevin Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Travis Venson, Daniel Venson, Dylan Ford, Jace Ford, Matt Matthews, and Jeff Thielemier.
