Obituary

Hot Springs- Sarrah Evelyn Harris Chappel, 93, formerly of Jonesboro passed away peacefully on May 2, 2016. She was born July 28, 1922 in Brooklandto the late James M. and Bessie J. Gilmer Harris. She married J.H. "Mutt" Chappel on November 13, 1943. Coming from a farming family,she was also the cook for Prospect School and then owned and operatedthe Milky Way Drive Inn in Jonesboro, along with her husband Mutt. Evelyn was a member of the Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, whereamong other servicesshe taught Sunday school for many years. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Gary and Wilma Chappel of Texarkana, Texas, Karen and Doyet Moore of Hot Springs and Marilyn and Matt Townsend of Jonesboro; beloved grandchildren, Kelli Moore Kemp, Wade Moore, Cody Chappel, Summer ChappelFloyd, Tara Townsend Thomason, Aaron Townsend and Abby TownsendPowell;twelve great-grandchildren and her sister Vernice Smith of Jonesboro. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, MuttChappel; an infant daughter, Sara Ann; and sister, Geneva Harris Burrow. A celebration of her life will be at2:00Friday, May 6, 2016 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Blackwoodofficiating and Rev. Wendell King assisting. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Honored to serve as pallbearers are hergrandsons, Wade Moore, Cody Chappel, Aaron Townsend, Cory Floyd, Blake Powell, Korbin Kemp, Kadin Kemp and nephew Scott Chappel. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters and great grandchildren. Lasting memorials may be sent to Alzheimer\u0027s Association or your favorite charity
