Sam Franklin Manis, 84, of Pocahontas passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

He was born February 5, 1939 in Pocahontas to the late Hervil and Vedis Swinney Manis.  He married JoAnn Dust on April 16, 1961 and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage.  Sam was a retired firefighter.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents Hervil and Vedis Manis; and his son, Steven William Manis.

Sam is survived by his wife JoAnn Dust Manis; daughter, Sandra Annette (Jim) Green; grandchildren, Blair (Chad) Thielemier, Craig (Callye) Green, and Samantha Beard; grandson-in-law, Owen Beard; great grandchildren, Connor, Eli, and Alexis Beard, Aven, Hoyt, and Dani Thielemier, and Rush Green; sister, Nancy Friend; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a graveside service at 1 PM at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Stephen Elser officiating.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are:  Jim Green, Craig Green, Chad Thielemier, Owen Beard, Connor Beard, and Eli Beard.
