Mr. Russell DeVries of Harrisburg, Arkansas, departed this life Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, at the age of 67.
He was born June 30, 1952 in Alma, Michigan, the son of the late Leo Russell DeVries and Bonnie Graham DeVries. Russell was a 1971 graduate of Harrisburg High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Collins on June 16, 1973 and they enjoyed 47 years together. He was a brick mason for most of his life and had worked for over 20 years for R\u0026G Masonary. He served six years in the Arkansas Army National Guard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at the lake. But his passion was spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, and the father that raised him, James Delmer Cannon, his mother Bonnie Graham Cannon, and one brother, Leo "Butch" DeVries.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah DeVries of the home; two sons, Bryan (Ashley) DeVries of Naples, FL and Bradley DeVries of Harrisburg; one brother, Jimmy DeVries of Paragould; two sisters, Lorrie DeVries of Jonesboro and Linda (Mike) Tubbs of Augusta and three grandchildren, Kylie DeVries, Ava DeVries and Garrison DeVries.
Graveside services will be private at Harrisburg Memorial Park, with military honors, under the direction of Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg.
