Obituary

Jonesboro- Ronald Lee Davis passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at St Bernards Medical Center.

Born March 19, 1937 to the late Julius and Marjorie Snodgrass Davis in Hagerstown, Indiana. He was the eldest of three sons. Brothers, Jack Davis and Phil Davis preceded Ron in death.

Ronald graduated from Hagerstown High School, attended Earlham College in Richmond, IN and received bachelors and Master's degrees from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. An educator by profession, he taught science and history for thirty-eight years in Muncie, retiring in 1999. During his teaching years, he was active in the teacher's union and in school athletics.

Ron fathered Tim Davis of Franklin, IN, Tom Davis of Cape Girardeau, MO, Tamisa Davis Lush of Noblesville, IN and Kelli McGuffey of Springfield, TN. He also was a grandfather to seven and had many relatives in the Hagerstown area. He was residing with his life-partner, companion and dearest friend, Velmar Richmond. He was step-father to Deryle Richmond of College Station, TX and Reche' Drakeford of Pocahontas.

Ron was blessed to have many friends in Jonesboro with those he discussed politics, dined and golfed with.

He served ten years in the Army Reserves where he graduated from officer candidate school in Ft Benning, GA in 1957. He retired in 1965 as a 1st LT. He also was a long time member of the American Legion and for a while he served as a security guard for ten years for Securitas.

A memorial visitation to celebrate his life will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
