Pocahontas- Roger Potter, 99, passed away at his daughter's home surrounded by family January 16, 2016. Roger was born November 23, 1916 in Floyd, Iowa to the late Ralph andEvangeline Dewey Potter. Roger is survived by children; Gary Potter, Georga (Dana) Clinton, Barbara Grimsby, Roger (Peggy) Potter Jr., Kenneth (Sharon) Potter, Daniel (Betty) Bpotter, Larry (Karen) Potter, 14 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren, sister Lois Ream, and brother Gerald Zalewski. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice Morris Potter, brothers Faye Potter, Kenneth Potter and Virgil Zalewski. Roger was the oldest WWII veteran in Randolph County. He received 2 Bronze stars and a Bronze Arrowhead for his service in WWIIP He was also a member of the VFW Promberger-Traw Post 4556. He attended the Church of Christ in Belvidere, IL and Pyburn Street Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Pyburn Street Church of Christ with Dennis McCarty officiating. A funeral and burial will also be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Machesney Park, IL.
