Obituary

Roger Derrick McQuay, 39, of Carriere Mississippi, formerly of Pocahontas, departed from this life Sunday, May 9, 2021.

He was born March 16, 1982, in Vicksburg Mississippi to Roger McQuay and Patricia Andrews Turner. Derrick was a hardworking man. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps wihen he was 19, and then went on to start a career in telecommunications. He was part of the rebuilding of infrastructure in New Orleans, Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. While in New Orleans, he met his wife Kimberly and they eventually settled in Carriere, Mississippi. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family; especially his two daughters.

He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Kimberly McQuay and daughters Elisabeth and Katherine of Carriere Mississippi; His parents Roger (Darlene) McQuay of Pocahontas; Patricia (Elhuarn) Turner of Paragould; four sisters, Rebecca (Craig) Steimel, Amanda (Jesse) Meeks all of Pocahontas, Lisa Davis of Elkhart Indiana, and Angela Davis of Paragould; two brothers Travis (Ashley) McQuay of Pocahontas, Michael (Sarah) McQuay of Louisburg, North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brother, David Davis; grandparents Earl and Blondie McQuay, Bill and Anna Andrews.

Visitation will be Friday, May 14 2021, from 11-1 PM in the McNabb Funeral Home. Grave-side funeral service will be held immediately following in Duty Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Travis and Michael McQuay, Craig Steimel, Jesse Meeks, Bryan Johnson, and Jason Collins.

All services are under direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
