Sedgwick- Robyn Diane Scott Doyle, 67, died Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Robyn was born at St. Bernard's on December 2, 1951, to Russell Lee Scott and Mary Maxine Vance Scott. Robyn was a 1969 graduate of Hoxie High School, and earned baccalaureate and master's degrees in early childhood education from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. She was an A-State employee for twenty-three years with the Childhood Services Programs for Children and Families in the Delta, serving first as a preschool teacher, and retiring in 2014 as Program Coordinator.
Robyn influenced many lives through her work; her instinct to help nurture and encourage everyone she met included especially the young children she taught, as well as the employees and colleagues she mentored. She had been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma as well as the Arkansas Early Childhood Association, which named her Statewide Outstanding Early Childhood Professional in 1999.
She was a lifetime member of the Sedgwick United Methodist Church, serving there as Sunday School teacher, chair of the Board of Trustees, and organist/pianist. She was also a founding member of the Sedgwick "Domino Divas." Robyn grew up on the mill yard of her grandfather BB Vance and Sons Lumber Company in Sedgwick, and her father's farm north of Sedgwick. From her earliest days, she was known for her humor and joy for life, her honesty and determination, her love of all music, especially the Beatles (who she sneaked to see on a Sunday morning in Walnut Ridge in 1964) and the Beach Boys. She will be remembered for the trouble she could always find a way to participate in and escape from, as well as for her tender heart.
Robyn was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Danny Lee Scott; and a son, Daniel Scott MacGregor Doyle.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Belk Doyle of the home; a daughter, Scotta Elizabeth "Libby" Doyle James (Zachary) of Jonesboro; a grandson, Rowan Scott Zachary James of Jonesboro; many nieces and nephews and a host of beloved Vance and Scott cousins, family, and friends.
A celebration of Robyn's life will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Gregg Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with Jim Markley and Rev. Donald Lewert officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
A visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
