Pocahontas- Robert O. Winchester, 96, passed away June 2, 2019 at his home in Pocahontas, AR. Robert was born November 2, 1922 to Owen and Eula Winchester of Imboden, AR.

Robert served in the US Army in WWII. He fought as a rifleman in the 44th Infantry Division, 71st Regiment and was awarded many medals including 3 Bronze Stars and Good Conduct Medals. Immediately following the war, Robert returned home to marry the love of his life, VeTrix Smith Winchester.

Robert was a member of the Methodist Church and owner of Winchester Body Shop for over 65 years. He welcomed many friends and children to fish in "Paw Paws Pond" over the years, and piloted Winchester Cathedral hot air balloons, entertaining many folks around the area. In his younger years, Robert was a Civil Air Patrol Leader, Boy Scout Leader, Auxiliary Police and various other community organizations.

Robert is survived by two sisters, Ruth Smith of Black Rock, Martha Sellers of Warsaw, IN and brother-in-law, Clyde (Ruth Ann) Smith of Black Rock. He is also survived by two sons, Bob Winchester of Little Rock, and Bill (Gina) Winchester of Jonesboro; two daughters, Ann (Ron) Helmbeck of Greers Ferry and Pat (John) Strack of Little Rock; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The family extends a special thanks to Jeanna Penn, CNA, for over six years of service to our Daddy and Mother, and a special thanks to JoAnn Holloway and other support staff from Legacy Hospice.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 1-2 pm at McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Imboden.

Memorials may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Legacy Hospice of Walnut Ridge, AR.
