Jonesboro- Robert "Bobby" David Roberts, 75, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014. He was born February 28, 1939 in Wynne to the late Garland and Frieda Roberts. Bobby served his country proudly in the National Guard. He was a supervisor with Southwestern Bell. He was an ordained Deacon and a Sunday School teacher with Philadelphia Baptist Church. The past seven years he was a member of Central Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He was well known for his barbecue and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Myra "Janie" Roberts; two daughters, Denita Roberts-Halcom of Jonesboro and Sherri Roberts- Arender and husband Scott all of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, David Halcom of Jonesboro, Broc Arender and wife Kristin of Cabot, Brant Arender of Jonesboro and Marissa Halcom- Brown and husband Logan of Jonesboro; a great-granddaughter, Keely Grace Brown; a brother and his wife, Roland and Pat Roberts of Wynne. A celebration of his life will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, August 22, 2014 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro. Honored to serve as pallbearers are David Halcom, Broc Arender, Brant Arender, Logan Brown, Chris Bowman and Jeremy Bowman and as honorary pallbearers, Scott Arender, Roland Roberts, Keith Bowman, Buddy Brown, Darren Woodson and Freddy Brown.
