Monette- Robert Earl Chambers,77, passed away on September 20, 2026 at home. He was born on August 6, 1949 to James “Dell” and Geneva Chambers. He married the love of his life, Marsha Brown, and together they shared 45 wonderful years.

Robert loved life and was always looking for opportunities to serve his community and share the love of Christ with others as they came across his path. He was a kindhearted, Godly man who never met a stranger and was always caring about the needs of others before meeting his own needs.

He served from October 1983 to the time of his death with the Monette Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chaplain and was always known by his fellow fireman as “Chap”

Robert served from 1969-1971 in the U.S Army in Germany as a radio operator and also with the Arkansas National Gurad for two years. He was a member of Monette American Legion Post #136 where he also served as Chaplain.

Robert and his wife Marsha have served 13 years as Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief Volunteers with the Current Gaines Association Feeding Unit and through those years travelled throughout the United States as well as in Arkansas providing help, healing, and hope to those recovering from disasters.

As a longtime member of the Monette First Baptist Church, Robert served as teacher from children to senior adults and also as Deacon.

He graduated from Monette High School in 1967 and also from Arkansas State University in 1977.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha; sister, Glenda (Henry) DiSalvo of Lake City; brothers-in-law, Kenny (Karen) Vaughn of Black Oak and Mike (Amy) Brown of Lake City. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt, and a multitude of friends.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, James “Dell” and Geneva Wallace Chambers, as well as his brothers, James and Fred Chambers

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Elite Hospice team for their lovingly devoted care they gave to Robert during his last days.

Services will be on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 11 am with service starting at 12 with Bro. Jared Russell and Bro. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will be at Monette Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Don Settles officiating.

Active pallbearers will be the Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief Volunteers and members of Monette Volunteers fire department will serve as Honorary Pallbearers
