Obituary

Jonesboro- Richard Neil Carter, 60, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 at his home. He was born October 6, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Neil B. and Bertha Warren Carter. He was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed trout fishing and spending time on the river and was an avid NASCAR fan. He will be remembered as a Godly, faithful, loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rebecca "Becky" Ann Gray Carter of the home; his children, Jeremy Carter (Sarah) and Elizabeth Carter; two grandsons, Bryce Neil Carter and Baylor Keith Carter all of Jonesboro; two sisters, Lou Ann Veteto (Dennis) of Atlanta, Georgia and Norma Cook of Jonesboro; brother of the heart, Gary Roberts of Bay; four nieces and two nephews and a host of friends and family. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Reid. A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Gregg -Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Nettleton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, October 7, 2016 at the funeral home. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jody Guthrie, Dustin Blackshear, Brock Buys, Tim Colburn, Dennis Veteto and Mark Guthrie and as honorary pallbearers, Ted Veteto, Gary Roberts, Dr. William Hubbard, Dr. Ray Hall and Dr. Steven Stroud.
