Retha Harpe, 85, of Lake City passed away August 25, 2015 in Germantown, TN.
She was born January 14, 1930 in Black Oak to the late Andrew Jackson Mangrum and Stella Mae Porter Mangrum. Retha was retired from Methodist Hospital in Memphis and became a housewife who enjoyed cooking, sewing and traveling. She was a member of the Church of Christ and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Swanson and wife Christine of Madison, TN., daughter, Carolyn Stainback of Southhaven, TN., son, Harold Swanson and wife Darlene of Atoka, TN., son, Edward Swanson of Lake City, daughter, Janice Huss and husband Douglas of Millington, TN., stepsons, Greg Harpe and wife Susan of Atlanta, GA., Mike Harpe of Ohio and Phillip Harpe of TN, nine Grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvell Swanson, her second husband, Thomas Harpe, and her brother, Roy Mangrum, sisters, Melita and Melba.
Funeral services will be graveside 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Monette Cemetery with Barry Ball officiating.
The family will receive friends at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. the day of the service.
