Regina Dillport Bachmann, 99, of Pocahontas passed away January 18, 2024, at Randolph County Nursing Home.
Regina was born in Walnut Ridge to the late Caleb Dillport and Mary Susan Kilcrease Dillport on January 16, 1925. After graduating from high school, Regina began her working life as a typist at the World War II Army Air Base in Walnut Ridge. There she met and married Jacob Bachmann, her husband of 49 years. With him, she moved to New Jersey where they made their home until 1978. They then returned to Pocahontas and made their last home together near her family, friends, and community. In support of community members, Regina was known by many as "an angel" in her work, church, and home. Regina worked for Northeast Arkansas Agency on Aging. She received awards for social work from the Governor Bill Clinton for her achievements. She was a founding member of the Presbyterian Church in Pocahontas, where for many years she played the piano during services.
Regina was preceded in death by her parents, Caleb and Mary Susan Dillport; husband, Jacob A. Bachmann; sisters, Marjorie Pedersen, Erna Saylors, and Hassel Shondell; brothers, Mack Dillport, and Sidney Caleb Dillport; nieces, Sandra Dillport and Sherie Moore; nephews, George Pedersen and Bud Dillport.
Regina is survived by daughter, Susanna (John Hampton) of Durham, N.C.; nieces, Karan McAllister of Jonesboro, Jennifer Shondell Grams of Ida Michigan, Denise Shondell of OH and Sara Sloan Heckle of Memphis, TN; nephews, Patrick Dillport of Hoxie, Jimmie Dillport of Cabot, Rob Saylors of Walnut Ridge and Lanie Shondell of OH.; grandchildren, Kathleen Hampton of Durham, NC., Lisl Hampton of Durham NC. and John B. Hampton IV of Durham, NC., and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2024, with funeral services to begin at 3:00 p.m. All services will be held in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will take place at Randolph Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Wings of Honor Museum, 70 South Beacon Road, Walnut Ridge, AR 72476.
