Obituary

Longwood, FL- Ralph Wendell Holcomb, 79, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013. He was born on July 6, 1933 at Cherry Valley to the late Grover and Jewel Holcomb. He graduated salutatorian from Cherry Valley High School in 1951. Mr. Holcomb was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1955 and went on to get his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Arkansas State College. He built his home in Metairie, LA in 1971 and vigorously celebrated Mardi Gras by riding in the Krewe of Thoth for over 25 years. As a Numismatist, he collected coins his entire life. Mr. Holcomb retired from Mobil Oil in 1992 after 34 years of service in accounting. He was a golf enthusiast that took the love of golf abroad playing St. Andrews - old course, as well as Augusta National, TPC sawgrass amongst many others. In 2010, he moved to Longwood to be with his daughter. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Holcomb of Longwood. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Frances Fields. A graveside service will be on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:00 am at Tyer Cemetery near Cherry Valley under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
