Harrisburg- Phoebe Jean Pugh passed away February 11, 2014 at St Bernard's Medical Center at the age of 89. She was born July 15, 1924 in Harrisburg. Jean was a homemaker until most of her children were grown, then worked at Waddles Drug Store, Johansson Shoe Factory, The Poinsett County Library and The Poinsett County Circuit Clerk Office for 20 plus years. She grew up poor and said she was lazy as a girl and would climb a tree and read a book, but after getting married and having children, was the hardest worker ever seen. Her passion was reading - especially mysteries. She loved working crossword puzzles and had a huge vocabulary, rocking babies, which she said was the most peaceful thing to her, and spending time with family. She had high morals, was very modest, was the smartest person we know and had the most beautiful, sincere smile. She was one of the fortunate people who got more beautiful with age. No word can express how much we will miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband C.W. Pugh; parents James Robert Lula Polk; a brother, John Robert Polk; son in law, R H Brown; daughters in law, Brenda Pugh and Mary Sue Pugh; grandson Jamie Bowman, granddaughter, Shonda Bowlin and great-grandson Branson Pugh. She sadly leaves behind her eight children, Judy and John Bowman of Horn Lake, MS, Jeanette Pugh, Janice Pugh, Jimmy Pugh, Jill Brown, Joyce and Mike Bowlin, John and Pam Pugh and Joe Pugh, all of Harrisburg; 9 grandchildren, Penny and Victor Roberts of Harrisburg, Melissa and Perry Baldwin of Horn Lake, MS, Jason and Brandi Pugh of Benton, Jaime Pugh, Kelly and Erica Brown, Chad Pugh and friend Mila Muse of Harrisburg, Jeff Pugh fianc Rebecca Leby of Little Rock, Chris Bowlin of Jonesboro and Amanda Gayle of Newport; 17 great- grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and was Grandmother and Mother to Sydney Goodman and Caleb Pugh. Visitation will be Saturday, February 15 from 12:00 - 2:00 at Gregg Weston Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
