Obituary
Monette- Perry Wood, 63, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at his home after four months of fighting Pancreatic Necrosis.
He was born January 20, 1956 in Lepanto to the late Hansel and Geneva Murry Wood and was raised in Caraway. He owned and operated Wood Construction Company that he leaves for his son to continue to run. Perry was an avid supporter of St Jude's Children's Research Hospital since the death of his son, Dusty, he raised over one million dollars' worth of platelets for them. Perry served his community as a city councilman, building planning commission chairman and was active with the youth baseball programs. Perry cherished taking his grandchildren hunting for the first time. One of his favorite things to do was to go to Monette Feed and Seed after work, where they have a chair with his name on it waiting for him. He will be remembered as a big hearted and loving husband, dad, brother and pa.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Wood; his son and wife, Jordan and Gwinda Wood of Monette; grandchildren, River and Briar Wood and Trevor, Jace and Eli Couch; two sisters and their husbands, Joan and Bruce Primm of Jonesboro and Wilma and Mike Thomas of Bradenton, Florida; mother-in-law, Lora Cole of Monette; sister-in-law, Judy Wood of Jonesboro; many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Dusty Wood and a brother, Gene Wood and a sister, Kay Gadberry.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 6:00 pm Thursday, May 23, 2019 at
Monette Church of Christ with Spencer Furby and Josh Parnell officiating under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Thursday at the church.
Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Neeley, Rob Ashley, Dennis Gathright, Bob Hurst, Cole Hawkins, Heath Sanders, Phillip Duffel, Wayne Couch, Jeremy Couch, Kane Ashley, John Ashley, Bishop Whitley, Billy Gathright, Justin Gathright, Justin Hawkins, Ricky Rolland and Bradley Wallace.
Lasting memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and Pilots for Christ in Paragould.
