Obituary

Pauline W. (Steimel) Frankenberger was born on July 13, 1922 in Engleberg, Arkansas. She passed away on January 6, 2015. She was married to the late Eugene Frankenberger for fifty-three years. Eugene passed away in 1995. Her eight children are Richard (Janice), Albert (Nancy) Frankenberger, Carolyn (Truman) Hackworth, Betty (Bob) Gravlin, Kenneth (Michelle), Steve (Mary Ann), David (Carol) Frankenberger and Susan (Jim) Martin. She has eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Her parents were William and Mary Steimel. She has three deceased brothers, Paul (her twin), Leo and Joe Steimel, all of Pocahontas and one surviving sister, MarieWestrich of Danville, Indiana. Two young sisters died at a very early age. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Shelby (Joe) Steimel. Hard work was always a part of her life. She worked on the family farm until she moved to Pocahontas at the age of 14 to serve as a nanny for several families. Pauline and Eugene married in 1942, endured a war time separation during World War II and started their family in 1947. She and Eugene raised their eight children and owned Pocahontas Plumbing and Heating Co. All of their children attended college and graduated four engineers, an architect, dietitian and a technical writer. She maintained her rental property, vegetable and flower gardens, and her large yard until her late 80's. She was a master seamstress and hand sewed quilts for each of her grandchildren. Pauline researched the family history of both the Frankenberger and Steimel families. In her and Eugene's later years, they enjoyed traveling to Europe to meet distant relatives. She devoted thousands of hours to St. Paul's Church and School, serving as Bazaar Chairman, PTA Secretary, maintained the grotto flower beds, helped clean the church and manage the cemetery, and spend not only her hours, but substituted for others for the Perpetual Adoration. Visitation will be at McNabb Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 until 7:00 o'clock on Friday evening January 9, with a rosary starting at 7:00 PM. The funeral will be at St. Paul's Church on Saturday, January 10 at 10:00 AM with Father Athanasius Okeiyi officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the St. Paul's Family Life Center Building Fund, 1002 Convent Street, Pocahontas, AR 72455 or the charity of your choice.
