Obituary

Jonesboro- Pauline House, 87, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016. She was born in Fordyce to the late Barney and Myrtle Nutt, she lived in Jonesboro area for 45 years and was formerly of Dyess. She was a 1961 graduate of Arkansas State University, she received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1965 a Master's degree in School Administration. She was retired from the Jonesboro Public Schools serving as a sixth grade teacher, Principal of South School, Assistant Superintendent and Program Director of the newly formed Kindergarten Center. She was named Personalities of American in 1985, Who's Who in the South and Southwest in 1982-1983 and Outstanding Elementary Teachers of American in 1972. She was president of Alpha Delta Kappa in 1966, Phi Delta Kappa- Sec. 1980-1981, Counsel of Elementary Education 1973-1976, Editor District Report, Quarterly Supplement to the Jonesboro Sun 1978-1982, Altrusa Vice President 1979-1980, YMCA board 1976, United Way Board 1980, Civic Improvement city Beautiful 1977-1978, Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect Board 1982, Board of Governors Craighead County Memorial Hospital 1978-1980, Charter Member of Highland Drive Christian Church. She is survived by her two sons, Paul Monroe House of Jonesboro and Dennis Keith House of Houston; a daughter, Charlotte Marie House of Jonesboro; a brother, Bobby Joe Nutt of Fordyce; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Monroe House; a grandson, James Robert Scarborough; two sisters and three brothers. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Highland Drive Christian Church at 501 W. Highland Dr. in Jonesboro. A graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Kelly Craft officiating under the direction of Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Lasting memorials may be sent Highland Drive Christian Church or a charity of your choice.
