Obituary

Paula Charlene Tyer, 99, of Pocahontas, Arkansas departed this life on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

She was born on March 2, 1926, to the late Buel Loftis and Isabel (Mock) Loftis, in Maynard. Charlene was known as "The Puzzle Master" because she loved the challenges of jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and sports. She was a member of the Pyburn Street Church of Christ. She and her husband, S.L., owned and operated Tyer's Grocery Store in Pocahontas for forty years. She loved to travel. She has visited every U.S. state, except for Alaska, most all Provinces in Canada including the three Provinces of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick and multiple overseas trips.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, S.L. Tyer; her parents; brother, Mock Loftis and sister-in-law, Colleen Loftis.

Charlene is survived by her sons, Rodney (Joni) Tyer and Mark (Donna) Tyer; special niece, Pam Tyer; grandchildren, David (Victoria) Tyer and Rachel (Whit) Whitaker; brother, Don (Sue) Loftis; along with many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

There will be a visitation held Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel with a burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
