Monette- Paul Dean "PD" Wallace, 83, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at Monette Manor.
He was born October 30, 1934 in Monette to the late Tom "Whiskers" and Gertie Woodsmall Wallace. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. The graduated from Monette High School in 1953. According to the Monette Buffalo school newspaper, P. D.'s famous saying was "Go on to the car, I'll be there in a minute". His senior year he was voted as Best All-Around Boy and he was known for his quick wit and athletic ability. He lived in the Monette area most of his life. After retirement he moved to the Hardy area where he enjoyed raising a large garden and giving it away to those in need. When his health began to decline, he moved back to Northeast Arkansas to be near his children.
He is survived by his daughters, Deb Whited of Monette, Pam Sandusky (Wesley) of Manila and Kerin Hawkins (Cole) of Leachville; a daughter-in-law, Karen Wallace of Monette; a sister, Willene Manis; seven grandchildren, Blake Sandusky (Danae), Heather Short (Walt), Kimberley Baumgartner (Todd), Justin Hawkins (Taffy), Mark Hawkins (Sarah) and Heath Hawkins (Madison); great-grandchildren, Callie Short, Everett Sandusky, Jansen and Addison Hawkins, Evie Kayte and Greenleigh Hawkins, Slade and Sawyer Hawkins and Annabelle and Tate Baumgartner; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Dean Wallace; a son-in-law; Roy Whited; two grandsons, Zach Whited and Seth Whited; his brother, R. C. "Pat" Wallace and sisters, Opaline Smothers, Juanita Akins, Geneva Chambers and Imogene Copeland.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
A graveside service will be 11:00 am Monday, October 29, 2018 at Monette Memorial Cemetery with Rev. David Price officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be given to Mike Wallace FFA Memorial Scholarship or the Roy, Zach and Seth Whited Memorial Scholarship
at Buffalo Island Central High School.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Michael Lyerly and the entire staff at Monette Manor for the excellent care and loving concern shown to our Dad and our family. We would also like to thank Dierksen Hospice for the extra care and attention they provided.
