Jonesboro- Patsy Ruth Hurd, 94, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
Patsy Ruth was born in Delaplaine on November 20, 1928 to Joe and Gaye Ballenger. Patsy was a member of the Bono Church of Christ. She graduated from Corning High School where she was a representative to Girls State in Little Rock. She attended Harding College. Her love of painting was well known through her many pictures of oil, water color, pastel and charcoal. She was an accomplished artist who received first place awards in art shows. Mrs. Patsy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving Patsy Ruth are two sons, Mark Alan Hurd of Bono and William Joseph Hurd of Flowery Branch, GA; a sister, Joan Gaye Cannon of Poplar Bluff, MO; seven grandchildren, John Johnson of Jonesboro, Stephen Johnson of Bono, Sunshine Johnson of Rossville, TN, Daniel Hurd of Plymouth, NH, Sara Rye of Flowery Branch, Joshua Hurd and Jonathan Hurd both of Bono; great-grandchildren as well as great-great-grandchildren blessed her lineage in addition to nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, John Harlan Hurd, a daughter, Judith Carole Carpenter and a brother, Jimmy Lee Ballenger.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2023 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
A celebration of her life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Bono Church of Christ with David Gibson and Richard Akins officiating and closing prayer by Dan Ballenger. Interment will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Joshua Hurd, Jonathan Hurd, Noah Hurd, Stephen Johnson, John Johnson and Terry Browning.
