Patsy Jean Hawkins Nichols of Memphis, Tennessee and Jonesboro, Arkansas, beloved wife of Buddy Nichols, ended her long journey with Alzheimer's Monday, February 4, 2013 to now be healed and begin life eternal with her Heavenly Father and her parents Tom and Bessie Hawkins who preceded her in death. She was born September 26, 1939 in Jonesboro, where she graduated high school and Business College. In Jonesboro, she was an executive assistant at Barton's Lumber Company and in Memphis, she served as an executive secretary at the Methodist Hospitals Foundation. The last thirty years Patsy has been a devoted homemaker and mother to two daughters, Cheryl Nichols Montgomery of Nashville, TN and Angela Carol Thompson, of Memphis. She was a faithful believer in God and his Son, Jesus Christ. Raised as a Nazarene, throughout most of her adult life she was member of the Baptist faith. With her daughter and husband, she converted to the Catholic Church. In addition to her husband and daughters, she is survived by two grandchildren, Savannah and Gracie Thompson, her beloved brother and sister, Jimmy Hawkins of Jonesboro and Doris Alger of Memphis. A Funeral Mass will be conducted, 9:00 am, Thursday, February 7, 2013 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1695 Central Avenue in Memphis with private burial at the Nichols Cemetery in Lepanto, Arkansas. Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 5:30 until 7:30 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave. Jonesboro, Arkansas. Pallbearers are: Adam Holton, John Holton, Brent Rust, Brad Rust, Chip Doty and Jeff Doty. Honorary Pallbearers are: A.J. Nichols, Bob Scott, Jim Secker, Wayne Nichols, and Larry Rust. In lieu of flowers, the family request that a donation be made to a local chapter or the national Alzheimer's Association.
