Obituary

Patricia Ann (Bigger) Bell, 90, passed from life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Patricia was born at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Turner and Beatrice (Loftis) Bigger on September 12, 1935.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Patricia was a long-time elementary school teacher. First at Brookland Elementary School in Brookland, Arkansas, in 1969. Then she taught second grade and remedial reading at Harrisburg Elementary School in Harrisburg, Arkansas, until her retirement in 1996. She was a favorite educator, with her usual sociable personality, who was respected and favored by parents and students alike. Patricia was dedicated to the development of early learning for her elementary students. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Patricia graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1957, with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. She was a proud member and past fraternity president of Phi Delta Kappa, the respected national honorary association for educators during college and also later during teaching careers. She was also an active member of Phi Beta Phi Sorority, voted Model Pledge in 1954. She was also a member of Mortar Board, a premier national honor society for college seniors, recognizing scholarship, leadership, and service.

Patricia was an accomplished pianist, favoring Rachmaninov and Chopin. She was also a very talented artist, with paintings in oil and watercolor, to her credit.

Patricia is survived by her brother, Stephen R. Bigger, esq. (Patricia); her Son, Stephen Bell (Maria); all of Pocahontas; her daughter, Sharon Bell-Miller, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Niece Ashlyn Bigger-Lingo (Tyler) and Nephew, Judge Alex Bigger (Graycen).

Grandchildren are Andrew Bell (Jamie) of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Olivia Holloway (Zack) of Pocahontas. Steve Miller (Ashley) of Chelsea, Michigan. Heidi Bengston (James) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Beau Miller (Heather) of Cambridge, Minnesota.

Her nine great grandchildren are: Ruby Bell, Turner Holloway; Brody, Carson, Jack, Vance, and Leo Miller. Also, Willow and Hazel Bengston.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the First Assembly of God Church, 605 Park Street in Pocahontas, with the Rev. Terry Miller, officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, with the service following at 11:00 am. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm at the Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas. All are welcome to attend.
