Mrs. Paralee H. McFarlin, of Monette, departed this life Friday, June 6, 2014, in Jonesboro, at the age of 88. She was born April 27, 1926 in Little River, AR, the daughter of the late Arthur Dougherty and Bertha Keith Dougherty. She grew up in the Macey Community and attended school at Macey Public Schools. She married Thomas Junior "Budgie " McFarlin on August 18, 1945. Paralee worked for Douglas Aircraft during WW II and also helped in the family garage business. She drove a school bus for Monette Public Schools. She enjoyed her flower beds and gardening and loved dancing, playing cards, and traveling. She was of the Baptist faith but attended the Monette Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas McFarlin, and six brothers, Art Junior Dougherty, Ray Dougherty, Bill Dougherty, Charles Dougherty, David Dougherty, and a baby brother Dougherty. She is survived by one son, Thomas McFarlin (Donna) of Manila, one daughter, Karalee Gibson (Larry) of Lake City, one brother, Lavern Dougherty of Catawissa, MO, one sister, Bernice Tompkins of Senath, MO, one grandson, Michael McFarlin (Jennifer), two Granddaughters, Melinda Wells (Brice), Patricia Duffel (Phillip), all of Monette, and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Monday at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. Interment will follow in Macey Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
