Pocahontas - Ouida Evelyn Hicks, 81, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Randolph Home. Born January 30, 1931 in Maynard to the late Earl and Jessie Davis. Although Ouida is no longer present among us we have the assurance, by her profession of faith in Jesus Christ, that she was delivered immediately to her eternal heavenly home. Awaiting to welcome her arrival was her parents, son Gary Hicks and brother Kenneth Davis. She is survived by husband of 64 years Aubrey Melvin Hicks of the home, son Timothy Wayne and wife Teresea Hicks of Memphis, Tn. Two granddaughters; Micki Spencer and Katie Hicks. Three great grandchildren; Aubrey, Dustin, and Hannah Grace Spencer and daughter- in-law Linda Hicks all of Tuscaloosa, Al. Siblings include: Verneal Bohn of O'Brien, Fl., Shirley Detraz of Dunedin, Fl., Earl Davis of St. Charles, Mo., and Vada McFarlane of Pocahontas. Ouida's hardy laughter will continue to resonate with those left behind to cherish her memory. Her greatest joy and love in life was her family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Randolph County Nursing Home for the extra care and love they showered on Ouida in her final days and their ongoing excellent level of care that they provide daily to all the residents. Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Eric Moffett officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 p.m.
