Obituary

Jonesboro - Opal Mae Pierce of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital at the age of 95. She was born on August 17, 1918 to the late Ed and Sallie McDaniel Lewis in Otwell. Mrs. Pierce was a homemaker and retired from Frolic Footwear in Jonesboro. She loved sewing, gardening, flowers and her dog, Candy. She was a member of Otwell Christian Church. Mrs. Pierce is survived by two sons and their wives, George Edward and Ann Pierce of Jonesboro, and Gary and Monica Pierce of Clarksville; three grandchildren and spouses, Tammy and J.D. Mays, Crystal and Bryan Nichols, and Matthew Hudspeth; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Pierce, an infant daughter, Sue Jane Pierce; granddaughter, Staci Hudspeth; brother, Bennie Lewis and two infant brothers. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 12, 2014, at McDaniel Cemetery near Jonesboro with Mitch Ford officiating. No visitation is scheduled. Services are entrusted to Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro. The family request lasting memorials be made to Otwell Christian Church, 46 CR 221, Jonesboro, AR 72404.
