Obituary

Mr. O. J. Chester of Dalton, Arkansas passed away January 24, 2008 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. He was born November 7, 1918 at Elm Store, Arkansas and entered into rest at the age of 89 years, two months and 17 days and was a son of the late J. J. (Ted) and Minerva Holland Chester. He was a member of the Dalton Church of Christ. O. J. Was united in marriage to Eileen King on April 15, 1944 at her parent's home in Dalton. They lived in the Dalton area all their lives except for O. J.'s service during World War II in Germany, France and Belgium. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a cattle farmer and continued this until 2002. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eileen; two daughters, Sharyn Reed and husband , Roland, of Gatewood, MO and Diane Huett and husband, Phillip, of Dalton; two granddaughters, Sharla Amick and husband, Chris of Warm Springs, Tara Newman and husband, Chris, of Jonesboro, three great-grandchildren, Gracie Marie and Charles Oral Jefferson Amick of Warm Springs and Sydney Jo Newman of Jonesboro, one step granddaughter, Laura Shaddon and husband, Jason, of Russellville, and two step great-grandchildren, Addison and Remington Shaddon of Russellville. Survivors also include one brother, Dr. Kern Chester and wife, Ann, of Paragould and several nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Earl, Virgil and Ray Chester, and two sisters, Velma Brown and Mary Nell Parsons, and one granddaughter, Sherri Roann Reed. Services are scheduled for 2pm Saturday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Gerald Fears officiating. Burial will follow in King Cemetery Visitation will be 1-2 Saturday at the funeral home.
