Nola Petty, 88, of Paragould, passed away on May 22, 2026. She was born on May 30, 1937, in Fairy, Oklahoma, to the late Ed Reed and Naomi Probst Scovel. Nola lived a life marked by kindness, connection, and a deep devotion to the people she loved.
For more than 40 years she ran an in-home daycare where she provided care and love for many children and families. She was a longtime member of St. Bernard’s Total Life/PACE Program and deeply loved the friends she made there. Nola was also a faithful member of Highland Drive Baptist Church. Above all, she treasured her family, who were the heart of her world.
Nola enjoyed working word searches, staying connected with friends and family on Facebook, and sharing laughter and stories with those she held dear.
She is survived by her son, William “Bill” (Mary) Loucks; her daughter, Brandy Hembrey; four sisters, Gayle Reed, Sheila King, Cindy Hill, and Deane Cairns; and one brother, Rod Scovel. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Cameron Kirksey, Sydney (Beto) Flores, Roberta (Brad) Piercy, James (Selena) Loucks, Samuel (Randi) Loucks, Shawn (Rachel) Jones, Chris (Brooke) Jones, and Levi Hembrey; nineteen great‑grandchildren; and nine great‑great‑grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Petty; her baby girl, Roberta Gayle Jones; her son, Johnny Jones; three sisters; and three brothers.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 am at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service to celebrate her life starting at 11:00 with Joe Hembrey officiating.
She will be laid to rest in Pine Hill Cemetery following services. Honored to serve her as pallbearers are Cameron Kirksey, Beto Flores, Joe Hembrey, Levi Hembrey, and Dan Reed. Honorary pallbearers are Ezekial Kirksey and Elijah Kirksey.
