Mr. N.B. "Doodle" Curtner, Jr., departed this life Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in Memphis, TN, at the age of 89. He was born January 25, 1924 in Cherry Valley, AR the son of N.B. Curtner and Dovie Ann Gaskins Curtner. He married Bertie Harmon November 1, 1989 and they enjoyed 23 years together before her death on November 10, 2012. Doodle was a U.S. Government fruit and vegetable inspector. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in WW II and Korea. He was a member of the American Legion, the Stonewall Masonic Lodge in Memphis, TN and was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, N.B. and Dovie Curtner, his stepmother, Blanche Shannon Curtner, his wife, Bertie Curtner and his ½ brother, Eli Keller. He is survived by one son, Norman Curtner of Jonesboro, one daughter, Carlya Sentelle and her husband Gerald of LaGrange, KY, two step-sons, Larry Lace and his wife Dorothy of Shelbyville, KY and Ronnie Lace and his wife Pam of Memphis, TN, one sister, Hazel Lawrence of Hickory Ridge, 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services are set for 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Files and Rev. Gary Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Tyre Cemetery at Cherry Valley under the direction of Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg with full military honors. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday evening, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
