Blytheville- Myrtle Taylor Thomas, 79, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015. She was born March 24, 1935 on Bunny Road near Caraway to the late Clarence and Margie Taylor. Myrtle attended Caraway High School, where she met and married her husband, James L "Coach" Thomas in 1951. She was an Extension Homemaker member for many years and a 4-H leader for 19 years. She was the Arkansas State Farm Bureau "Sew with Cotton Sweepstakes Winner" twice and also placed several times in categories. She was the Altar flower chairman at Armorel Baptist Church for 10 years, church hostess for several years and involved in the Banner Ministry for six years. She is survived by two sons, Ron Thomas of Blytheville and Don Thomas of Armorel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. "Coach" Thomas; five brothers, Calvin Ray, Lavoy, Gene, Dalton and A. R. Taylor. Her service will be 10:00 am Monday, January 19, 2015 at Armorel Baptist Church with burial at Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette. Visitation will be from 9:00 until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the Armorel School Scholarship Fund.
