Obituary

Myrna Rae Vinchattle, 76, of Maynard, Arkansas, passed away on July 15, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Myrna was born on October 13, 1949, in Vancouver, Washington. She lived a life filled with love, faith, creativity, and dedication to those around her. She was known by her family and friends as a caring, loving, and hardworking woman who always put others before herself.

Myrna shared 33 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Richard “Dick” Vinchattle. The two were married in 1992 and began their life together by moving from Iowa to Arkansas the very next day. Their journey together was a testament to their love and commitment to one another.

Throughout her life, Myrna worked several different jobs, but one of the most enjoyable chapters was working with Ed and Wanda Barker, where she helped build windmills and wishing wells. She found joy in her work and took pride in creating things with her hands.

Myrna had a special talent and passion for quilting. She quilted for many years and created many beautiful quilts throughout her lifetime. Her talent was recognized when she was featured in a quilting magazine. More importantly, she made sure that each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren received their very own quilt—a lasting gift that carries her love, warmth, and memory with it.

She also loved gardening, from beautiful flowers and herb gardens to a large, full garden. She found happiness in nurturing and creating beauty around her. Myrna also enjoyed cooking and baking, sharing the love she put into the meals and treats she made for those around her. She also enjoyed canning, preserving the fruits and vegetables of her hard work. She loved to read and found joy in the quiet moments spent with a good book or magazine.

Myrna’s memory will forever live on through the family she loved so deeply, the quilts she lovingly created, the gardens she nurtured, the meals she prepared, the prayers she shared, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and faith.

Myrna had a strong faith and believed deeply in the power of prayer. She also enjoyed Bible study with friends, which strengthened her friendships and faith. She attended many churches throughout her life and was currently attending Assembly of God in Pocahontas.

Myrna is survived by her loving husband, Richard “Dick” Vinchattle; her children, Mark VanCannon of Boone, Iowa, and Marcia VanCannon of Maynard, Arkansas; six grandchildren: Cody Gustoff Trena of Scranton, Iowa; Cole Gustoff \(Dalmo\-Honey\) Jennifer Gustoff of Scranton, Iowa; Hollie Turner of Boone, Iowa; Hilarie VanCannon of Boone, Iowa; Adam VanCannon of Boone, Iowa; and Austin VanCannon Sami of Boone, Iowa; and her great-grandchildren: Braedyn Gustoff, Camryn Gustoff, Breckyn Gustoff, Haezyn Gustoff, Lily Gustoff, Koltyn Gustoff, Jonathan Mobley, Kyllie Turner, Kayllie Turner, Mason VanCannon, Hunter Svaleson, and Elowyn VanCannon and loving niece, Shar Mundell of Dalton, Arkansas

She was preceded in death by her mother, Geneva Knight, and her brother, Thomas Withers.
