POCAHONTAS-Monnie Lou (Armstrong) Cook of the Fairview Community was born August 17, 1914 at Armstrong, AR in Sharp County. Her parents were James and Nellie (Wilkerson) Armstrong. Monnie and her family moved to Dalton in Randolph County when she was five years old. She has lived in Randolph County ever since. Monnie Armstrong married Ralph L. Cook, Sr. Of Dalton on March 3, 1935. Her husband, Ralph Cook, Sr., , and two infant sons preceded her in death. Her parents, James and Nellie Armstrong, and her five brothers and sisters, Elmore Jenkins, Herbert Armstrong, Leora (Armstrong) Hutsell, Maggie (Armstrong) Archer and Willard Armstrong all preceded her in death. Monnie is survived by her six children, Monta Jean (Cook) Evans of Pocahontas, Ralph L. Cook, Jr. Of Imboden, George Cook of Byhalia, MS, Carol (Cook) Upton of Enola, AR, Jerry Cook of Rogers, AR and Sherrye (Cook) Livingston of Bedford, IN. She is survived by twenty grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Ralph and Monnie Cook moved to the Fairview Community in Southwest Randolph County in 1946 and reared their six children on a farm located on the beautiful Eleven Point River. After Ralph, Sr. Passed away, Monnie continued living on the farm until she fell and broke a hip in 2001. At that time, she became a resident at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab Center in Pocahontas. Services will be held at 2pm Sunday in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Stan Little officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 Saturday at the funeral home.
