Jonesboro- Mildred Gladys O'Connor, 96, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at Flo \u0026 Phil Jones Hospice House.
She was born February 1, 1921 in Memphis to the late Aubrey E. and Mildred (White) Scott. She graduated from Marked Tree High School in 1938 and in 1943, she married Thomas Miles O'Connor Sr, while he was serving during World War II. She worked at Memphis Army Depot and she retired from Memphis Public Library. Mrs. Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro. She enjoyed golfing and volunteering in Hot Springs and loved visits from her family especially from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas O'Connor Sr.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Tom and Renee O'Connor of Jonesboro and Kay and Hershel McElroy of Searcy; a brother, Aubrey E. Scott Jr. of Jonesboro; a sister, Rose Marie Strange of Memphis; grandchildren and their spouses, Robert and Tricia O'Connor of Conway and Tracy and Shane Stafford of Covington, TN; great-grandchildren, Ben O'Connor, Liam O'Connor, Christopher Stafford, Courtney Stafford and Cody Stafford; step-grandchildren and their spouses, Cody and Sierra Emerson of Marble Falls, TX and Mandy and Chuck Bari of Jonesboro; step-great-granddaughter, Laura Mae Bari.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro.
A celebration of her life will be 2:00 Thursday at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Stillwell officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
