SFC Michael Joe "Mike" Eastin of Harrisburg, departed this life on Sunday, May 22, 2022, in Jonesboro, surrounded by his dear family, at the age of 64.
He was born May 5, 1958 in Sycamore, IL, the son of Roy Max Eastin and Wanda Keeney Eastin.
Mike was a 1976 graduate of Harrisburg High School and joined the Army in 1980. He faithfully served his country for 34 years. He served with passion and was a decorated hero who served in many oversees conflicts and tours. He married Kelly Brown on September 17, 1983 and they enjoyed 39 years together. He loved running and was known for running long distances on a daily basis. He loved spending time with his family; and his grandchildren were his passion. He was also known for his generous nature and gave of himself and his possessions to anyone in need. He was a very humble person and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Eastin, whom he loved with all of his heart, and also by June Morgan, his father's loving companion.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kelly Eastin of the home, two children, Michael Max Edward Eastin and his wife Hazel-Rose of Harrisburg, and Kelsey Smith and her husband Dillon of Harrisburg, his father, Roy Max Eastin of Harrisburg, one brother, Stanley Eastin and his wife Rose of Harrisburg, two sisters, Misti McCoy of Bentonville, and Nikki Haughey and her husband Mike of Jonesboro, two grandchildren, Kallen Edward Thomas Smith and Michael London Eastin, several special nieces and nephews and Joy Morgan and her children.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny McMahan officiating and Sgt. Major Chuck Cagle offering a Eulogy. Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday, 1:00-2:00 p.m.. Burial with full honors will follow in Bethel Cemetery near Harrisburg. Those serving as pallbearers will be Mike Green, Darrell Vaden, Sgt. Major Chuck Cagle, Danny Gifford, Staff Sgt. Joel Hayes, and Chris Richey.
