Merle Russell Young, 81 passed away February 14, following years of gradual debilitating strokes. He was born September 9, 1933 in Chipawa Township, Pennsylvania to Russell and Ruth Linzey Young. Merle is survived by his daughter Jody (Howard) Thielemier, sons Darrell and Clint (Kim) Young, step daughters Joniece (Scott) Trammell and Teri (Larry) Lewis, stepson Scott Harold. Grandchildren Benjamin Thielemier, Tahnee ( Terry) Green and Austin Young. Step grandchildren Noel Boyce, Aliecia Spears, Olivia Pate, Rachel Koons, Tiffany Poling , and Hannah Cagle. Two great grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren. Brothers Greg, Dennis, Jerry, Dale, Neal and Raymond Young,and sister Ruth Stice. Numerous other family members and friends Merle retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service in 1973. Upon retirment, he was hired by Amerace- ESNA as a personel manager for thier new manufacturing plant in Pocahontas, Arkansas. After five years, Merle changed employer to Skil Corporation in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas where he managed over 2000 employees at one time. Merle enjoyed traveling throughout his adult life, in his retirement years he continued to travel spliting his time between homes in Pocahontas and Las Vegas, NV. Merle was active with Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Society for Human Resource Management, Rolling Hills Country Club, ASU Indian Club and later in life attended Sutton Free Will Baptist Church. Merle was Proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene Jeter Young, premature twins, Gladys and William and wife, Olieta Culver Young, sisters Audrey Zurasky, Alice Blazak, and Carol Baker, brothers Ron and Gary Young. The funeral will be held Saturday, February 28 at 1 pm at McNabbs Funeral Home with a time for visitation beginning at 10 am till time for funeral services. Brother Randy Scott, Brother Loy Culver and family will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations maybe sent to Intergrity 1st Bank, 1 Bank Plaza Drive, Pocahontas, AR 72455 towards a scholarship to be established in memory of Merle Young or the charity of your choice. Pall bearers will be Scott Trammel, Lawrence Bergman, David Thielemier, Dave Holbrook, Bob Hoskins, and Doug Cox.
