Jonesboro- Melton Earl Gambill, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013. He was born on October 22, 1929 in Jonesboro to the late John Melton Gambill and Cora Maude Booher Gambill. Mr. Gambill worked at Child's Company, M.E. Carter and had owned Gambill Grocery Store. He enjoyed gardening. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and loved by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Era Gambill; his children and their spouses, Linda and Bill Allen and Glen and Belinda Gambill all of Jonesboro and Cindy and Ronny Johnston of Farmington; three grandchildren, Lacey Maxwell and husband Brandon of Bono, Jonathan Allen of Jonesboro and Lauren Johnston of Springdale; two great-grandchildren, Eli Maxwell of Bono and Luke Allen of Jonesboro; a sister, Muriel Rains of Jonesboro; a brother, Kenneth Gambill of Jonesboro. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Gene Gambill, Johnny Gambill and Frank Gambill; four sisters, Mary Goodman, Angie Beck, Velda Watson and Nelda Gambill. A celebration of his life will be 10:00 am, Friday, November 1, 2013 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews Ave. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jonathan Allen, Brandon Maxwell, Jim McLaughlin, Glenn Crawford, Buck Bounds and Eddie Nelms and as honorary pallbearers, David Maynard, Leroy Turner, Bob Beck and Bob Lovins. Lasting memorials may be sent to Shiloh United Methodist Church in Jonesboro.
