Obituary

Lake City- Melba Pearl Williams, 92, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at Flo \u0026 Phil Jones Hospice House.

She was born June 28, 1926 in Hancock Community to the late William and Letha Calvert Brooks. She was a pecan farmer for fifty years and enjoyed making pecan pies. Her pies won her the county fair championship for six years. Pearl also enjoyed crafting and gardening. She was currently a member of the Lake City Baptist Church and the sole remaining charter member of the Rivervale Baptist Church. She loved her children and grand-children.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Bud) Caldwell of Lake City and Ronnie (Tammy) Williams of Caraway; her twin brother, Bearl (Loretta) Brooks of Jonesboro; a sister, Jean Calvert Carner of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Kate Wells of Lake City, Austin Williams of Guyton, GA and Justin Williams of Kill Devil Hills, NC; three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Grady Williams; twin sisters, Mae Davenport and Faye Matthews and three brothers, Ardell Brooks, Adolph Brooks and Carl Brooks.

The graveside service will be 1:00 pm Friday, August 31, 2018 at Caraway Cemetery with Rev. Rick Stevens officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Honorary pallbearers include her nieces and nephews, and William Tyler, Rudy Anderson, Cleffie Gipson, Tracy Bunch CNA, T. B. Smith and Roger Dale Overman.
