Obituary
Jonesboro- Mary Katherine Smith, 77, passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
She was born December 31, 1941 in Oxford, Mississippi to the late William and Opal Nail Abernethy. She retired from Arkansas Department of Human Services after twenty-five years.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Smith and a brother, Billy Abernethy.
She is survived by two daughters, Melanie Dennis and Shannon Smith; four grandchildren, Kyle Metcalf, Austin Metcalf, Makayla Kemp and Devon Kemp; four sisters, Jane Michelletti, Rose Walker, Linda Abernethy and Nancy Abernethy; a brother, John Abernethy (Sue Ellen); a sister-in-law, Linda Gaither (Dwayne) and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with David Mote officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
The visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers, Chris Metcalf, Kyle Metcalf, Austin Metcalf and Shawn Thomas.
