Mary Sue
Moore
Oct 10, 1945 — Aug 18, 2026
Mary Sue Moore, 80, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Monette on October 10, 1945 to the late Ira Nettles and Mildred Metcalf Nettles. She was a lifelong resident of Monette. She graduated from Monette High School in 1963.
If you knew Mary Sue, you loved her. She was the most gentle and kind soul who had a heart of gold. She loved everyone especially her family. She was always a happy person who enjoyed being a homemaker and enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved being at home, reading, bird watching, her cats, and her favorite thing was a big cup of coffee. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
Those who will be left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughter, best friend, and full time caregiver, Gina (Moore) Knight, her treasured son-in-law and full time caregiver, Jack Knight, both of the home. She is also survived by her sister, Norma Spurlock of Lake City, and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Gene Moore, two brothers, Clayton Nettles of Monette and Wendell Nettles of Cabot, and four sisters, Betty Lou Nettles of Monette (who was her twin sister), Delores Bowman of Lake City, Joyce Mize of Batesville, and Sharon Lock of Lake City.
A special thanks goes out to St. Bernards Home Health that cared for her for a year and a half, and her favorite nurse there, McKenzie. Also, a heartfelt thanks goes out to Dierksen Hospice for their loving care the past few months to keep her happy and comfortable. She had a special happiness when she would see her favorite CNA, Stephanie.
At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
