Pocahontas- Mary Ann (Thompson ) Magruder, 77, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas, AR. Mary, and her twin sister Mildred, were born November 2, 1934 in Pocahontas, AR to the late Clarence and Bessie (Mitchell) Thompson. She is also preceded in death by husband Waldo Magruder, two sisters; Hazel Pickett and Joyce Christie, one nephew, Robert Tyler and one great nephew. She married the late Waldo Magruder in 1963 and resided in Doniphan, Mo until 2009, when health complication brought her back to Pocahontas to be near her family. Mary had been a member of the Doniphan VFW Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She had worked at several retail establishment in Doniphan over the years. Mary loved playing Bingo, fishing, and above all reading. Mary is survived by her twin sister, Mildred Tyler of Pocahontas another sister, Doris Eckhardt of Lebanon, OH and one brother Jim Thompson (Carol) of Pocahontas. Although Mary had no children of her own, she was the "second Mom" to many nieces and nephews and others who loved her very much. In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be sent to the Randolph County Library. There will be Visitation for Mary Magruder on Monday, February 27, 2012 from 4:00-6:00 in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Doniphan, MO.
