Jonesboro - Mrs. Mary Jane Henderson Nash, 92, formerly of Jonesboro passed peacefully away at her daughter's residence in Tucker, Georgia on Sunday, August 16, 2020 of natural causes.
Mrs. Nash was born on June 9, 1928 in Webster Grove, Missouri to the late Arthur and Millie Dickson Henderson. She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and Arkansas State University with a B.S.E degree and was a charter member of Alpha Gamma Delta at ASU. She was a retired teacher having taught first year science at Bono High School and later taught home economics at Annie Camp School in Jonesboro and also at Egypt, Bay and Cardwell, MO.
Mrs. Nash was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and Susannah Circle. She was past president of St. Bernard's Auxiliary, member of the NEA Cancer Support Group and First United Methodist Cancer Support Group. She loved to make Christmas candy for family and friends and loved to knit and needlepoint.
She is survived by three daughters, Georgia (David) Tackett and Opal Savage of Jonesboro and Mary Elmore (Patti Kirk) of Tucker, GA; five grandchildren; Amber (Josh) Tackett, Brandi (Wesley) Lipscomb, Brian (Sarah) Tackett, Stephanie (Chad) Crawford and Lauren (Tyler) Darty; five great-grandchildren, Piper Tackett, Elliana Tackett, James Tackett, Violet Simons and Andrew Crawford; a niece, Judy Yates of Scottsdale, AZ.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Travis H. Nash, two sisters, Ann C. Shryock and Bettye Jean Elmore and a son-in-law, Hal Savage.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2020 at the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Carlton Cross officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are David Tackett, Wesley Lipscomb, Josh Tackett, Brian Tackett, Chad Crawford and Toni Bari.
