Jonesboro- Mary Alma Hawkins 86, passed from this life on March the 4th, 2019 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
She was born August 16, 1932 near Cash to the late Jim and Alice Barr. Mary was a member of the Cash Assembly of God church. She was raised on her parent's farm near Cash. She met and married Robert Hawkins in 1950 and enjoyed fifty-eight years together until his death in 2008. They left the Cash area shortly after being married only to return in March of 1965, where they began farming the following year. Mary's life revolved around taking care of her family, home and the farm, which she enjoyed immensely.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hawkins; brother, Grover Barr and sister, Marie Davis.
She is survived by one son, Michael (Kathy) Hawkins, of Jonesboro; two granddaughters, Lacey (Chad) Vance of Greenbrier, Lindsey (Derek) Bowman of Jonesboro; two great-granddaughters, Beckett Bowman and Scarlet Vance; one brother, J. T. Barr of Jonesboro and one sister, Tula Arnold of Jonesboro.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Thursday March 7, 2019 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Snow and Johnny Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Worley Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are James Barr, Phillip Barr, Charlie David, Derek Bowman, Chad Vance and Randall Tubbs and as honorary pallbearers, Morris Watkins, Dr. Rick Tate, Warren Coots, Mark Lambie, Charlie Kain, Gary Barr and Lester Watkins.
