Trumann- Mary Frances Gillis, 97, left this earth to be in the arms of Jesus and reunited with her husband of seventy years, Melvin Gillis on January 16, 2019 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Frances was born on March 6, 1922 in Harrisburg to the late R.L. "Bob" Spencer and Cora Mason Teague Spencer and grew up in the Greenfield community. She graduated Harrisburg High School and attended business college and worked for a time in St. Louis, Missouri. She married Melvin Gillis, April 26, 1945 and lived a short time in North Carolina while Melvin served in the Marine Corps. They returned to the Harrisburg area after World War II where they lived and raised their family before moving to Trumann. Frances was a member of the Trumann First Baptist Church. She loved to read and do word puzzles but mostly she loved visiting with family.
Frances was also preceded in death by a brother, Burrell Spencer; sisters, Mildred Wade, Virginia Fred, Gertrude Clifford and Bobbie Mooney.
She was survived by three sons and their wives, Steve and Maria Gillis of Jonesboro, Russell and Sandy Gillis of Trumann and Mike and Jill Gillis of Weiner; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. John Maley officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice house in Jonesboro or St. Jude's Hospital
