North Carolina - Mary Margaret Dabbs Williams, 91, formerly of Jonesboro, died July 28, 2013, in North Carolina where she had been living with her daughter for the past year. Margaret was born January 18, 1922, in Jonesboro to the late Pierce and Ethel Brown Dabbs. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, George E. Williams; a son, Jerry E. Williams; her step-mother, Carrie Dabbs; three brothers, Bill Dabbs, Pete Dabbs, and Flavious Elam; and two sisters-in-law, Goldie Dabbs and Grace Elam. A member of Walnut St. Baptist Church for 60 years, she served as a GA leader, VBS teacher, and Wednesday evening cook and was a faithful member of the Faith Sunday School class. She worked at Frolic Footwear for 25 years. Most of her life she was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables and loved being outdoors. Survivors include her daughter, Darlene (Robert) Doak of Marshville, NC; two grandsons, Jerry E. Williams, Jr. of Ft. Smith and Trent R. Doak of Monroe, North Carolina; a granddaughter, Julie (Matthew) Barber of Ft. Smith; a sister-in-law, Patsy Dabbs of Osceola; two great-grandsons, Dakota Williams and Sebastian Barber, four nieces, and two nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Walnut Street Baptist Church with service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Curtis Shatley officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Carl Cole, Willie Dabbs, Jack Elam, Don Kennedy, Randy McElhannon and Charles Womack.
