Marvin Arthur Fry, 76, passed peacefully from this life at his home in Lake City on Friday, May 8, 2026 with his family holding his hands. Marvin was born in Black Oak on November 11, 1949 to Jesse and Vergie Fry.
Marvin graduated from Monette High School in 1967. After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army and returning from Vietnam, he met and married the love of his life, Loretta, on June 10, 1973. They lived in Florida and South Carolina for a time before returning home to Northeast Arkansas, Marvin was an equipment operator, he tried the factory life, but that did not suit him. Therefore, he became an entrepreneur lifelong truck driver. He was proud to see all three of his boys follow in his footsteps and was even able to run his last working miles with his son, Jesse, at the Monette Co-Op. Marvin loved to hunt and tinker and work on a little bit of everything- old cars and trucks, heavy equipment, and motorcycles. If it had wheels and an engine, he was all about it. His favorite past time in recent years was spending time with his family and with his four-legged companions, Baby and Lilly, who were always sitting in his lap in his favorite chair. His kids and their families were his greatest joy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 136 and often reminisced with the guys about his time in the service.
He is survived by his six children, Lorie Williams (Jimmy), Marvin Fry II (Kelly), Melissa Fry (Jay), Lisa Combs (Michael “Tye”), Jesse Fry (Sharon), and Daniel Fry (Brandi); grandchildren, Ariel, Amber (JR), Emily (Matthew), Alyssa, JR (Julia), Skylar (Trey), Katie (Braden), Trey, Trinettie, Gavin, Delon, Branden (Kirsten), Sarah (Eddie), Nash (Jillian), John (Hope), and Page; greatgrandchildren, Catalina, Eliza, Melody, Jackson, Travis, Everly, Journi, Marissa, Audrey, Mattie, Everette, Kam, Madi, Jemma, Jaley, Wren, and Phoebe. He is also survived by his siblings, MaryAnn Shaver (Joe), Patricia Gardner, Janie Patterson (Roy), Larry Fry, and James Jefferies (Janet).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Fry; his parents, Jesse and Vergie Fry; brother, Robert Fry; and great grandchildren, Dylan Fry and Oliva Peel.
The visitation will be Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 1 pm until service time at 2 pm officiated by his grandson, Branden Combs,
