Pocahontas - Marvene Louise (Carter) Lance, 94, of Pocahontas, departed this life on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Randolph County Nursing Home.

Marvene was born April 05, 1931, in O’Kean to the late James Cledith Carter and Margie Ford Carter. She was a schoolteacher for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Morris Dean Lance; daughter, Holly Carter; two sisters, Wanda Dean and Ann Tate; and one brother, James Cleditt Carter II.  

She is survived by her son, Greg Lance of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Gregg (Scooter) Lance II and wife Lauren of Pocahontas; Jodi Lynn Carter of Texas, and Jeff Ryan Carter of Walnut Ridge; two great grandchildren, Lucas Lance and Logan Lance, both of Pocahontas, Hutson Meinke; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2025, with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. with Jeral Dean officiating. All services will be held in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Randolph Memorial Gardens.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Brad French, Jim Carter, Rob Roberts, Kyle Ford, Bo French, and Ryan Carter.

Honorary pallbearers include Steve McCandless and Harold Robinson Jr.
