Jonesboro- Maria Magdalena Diaz, 57, who lived in Jonesboro and was from Dominican Republic, peacefully passed away May 15, 2021.

She was born to Antonio and Antonia Rosario, May 27, 1963, in Domincan Republic. She was married to Elmo Diaz on January 14, 1989.

Maria was always ready to have a good time. She was often the life of the party. She went to college and graduated from medical school in 1987. However, she always said she hated studying medicine and was happy she got to marry a doctor instead of being one herself. Maria enjoyed spending time with her family, going on vacation, shopping, listening to music, and dancing when she could. The most prominent quality of Maria is how much she loved her family. She was a loving, supportive, and caring friend, mother, daughter, sister, and wife. Maria was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind beautiful memories. She also loved being a grandmother, it was by far her favorite role.

Maria is survived by her husband, Elmo Diaz; her two daughters, Mariel and Stephanie; her sisters, Olimpia and Jackie; her grandchildren, William and Luna, and by a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.

Maria's family has decided to hold a celebration of life in her honor. This will be held at her family's home for the past eighteen years located at 2805 Tower Park Drive in Jonesboro on May 22, 2021 from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm. During this scheduled time, family and friends are welcome to pay their respects and share treasured memories. The family asks that visiting members wear red to honor Maria, since it was her favorite color.

Prior to Maria's death, she always expressed wanting to be cremated and her family honored her wishes.
