Obituary

Jonesboro- Marguerite Pulliam (1920 - 2020) went home to meet Jesus on June 29, 2020 just shy of 100 years here on earth. If ever there was a true definition of a Proverbs 31-woman, Marguerite Pulliam was it - she loved Jesus, she loved and served her family and friends, she was an entrepreneur, she taught love, grace, and forgiveness above all else, she was generous with her resources even when she did not have it to give, and she was adored by her husband, children, and grands.

She and Amos R. Pulliam were married for fifty-three years and they raised six children together. "Grandma" is survived by one daughter - Peggy J. Walker and husband Dan; two sisters, Elsie Williams and Louise McMillan; a brother, Gerald Bounds; eight grandchildren - Jerri Walker, Eric Horner, Hollie Roach, Van Evanson, Sarah Carroll, Mark Pulliam, Heather Walker-Clark, and Leslie Beauregard; twenty great-grands and several great great-grands.

Marguerite "Grandma" Pulliam loved to cook meals for her family and was known for the amazing home cooked food she prepared on Sundays and holidays, especially her homemade cherry cheesecake and pecan pies. She could make anything. She could sew, crochet, quilt, and she owned her own business for years making professional draperies for SEARS. She made many of the clothes worn by her children and grand children and every great grand child received a home-made "made by Grandma with LOVE" quilt when they were born. She loved to read, cook, harvest the garden, can, and create things for the people she loved. In her later years, she would sit and worship God and talk about her grandchildren. Marguerite lived a tremendous life. Born in 1920, she lived through the great depression and war, she picked cotton, she worked hard every day of her life, and she gave to her community and family without resolve. Her hands were strong like her soul and she never wasted a morsel of food or anything for that matter. Her family adored her, looked up to her, and saw her as our matriarch. She is missed but always loved. She is gone but lives on forever. She is absent from us but is with Jesus now. She will live eternally with Him who has kept her all these years and we will all see her again when we go home too.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband Amos; parents Levi \u0026 Mae Bounds; children Roberta, James, Josephine, Jerry, and Betty; great-grandson Noah; brothers Layman, Shelby, S.L., and Lee; and sister, Eleanore Land.
